Why I stopped using a markdown package for my Filament forms

Every Laravel project I start used to begin with the same three packages. This one didn't.
The problem#
The popular Filament markdown plugin was pinned to Filament 3. Upgrading meant either forking it or waiting.
What I did instead#
Filament v5's native MarkdownEditor handles code blocks, tables and image uploads out of the box. Rendering goes through CommonMark with HTML stripped, then an allow-list sanitiser — two layers, so a pasted <script> never reaches the page.
Takeaway#
Before reaching for a package, check what the framework already ships. It's usually more than you remember.
